I stumbled across an interesting blog post about Edinburgh’s folk scene that I thought I’d share. Two of my very favorite people in Edinburgh are My Kappa Roots and The Wee Rogue.
When looking for artists to work with when starting Drifting Falling, we had a hard and fast rule…we’ll call it the “holy shit rule”. An artist’s music had to make you think or say holy shit when listening to it to be considered for release. After a tip from a good friend, and listening to a few tracks from Night Maps by Cheer; the holy shit factor was fully realised. A few short months later and Red Walk is the result. Superb!
It’s a thrill for us to get to work with so many talented musicians, and one band we’ve been a fan of for a very long time is Air Formation. So perhaps you can understand why we’re more than just a little ummm…giddy to announce that we’ll be issuing the debut solo release from Matt Bartram chief songwriter and leader of the aforementioned band. This long player is set to hit in late summer/autumn. You can hear some early versions/mixes on Matt’s MySpace.
We’re very excited to announce that we will be working with Televise (Simon Scott) on a new EP for 2007. Taking on a much more ambient electronic feel, this new material is very much the sound of a man following his heart. If you’re unfamiliar with Simon or Televise view his roster page for a rather thorough synopsis.
DriftingFalling is a small label specialising in atmospheric, electronic and organic sounds. This might range from shoegaze, post-rock, folk, electronica, ambient, drone, glitch or any combination thereof.
